The purpose of the Southside Presbyterian Church nursery is to provide quality care for your young child on Sunday mornings and during special events, enabling families to participate in the life of the church through worship and study. We strive to provide a positive, nurturing environment where children can learn and grow in God’s love and feel at home within the church family.
Staff Our nursery is staffed with caring, qualified childcare providers who are part of our church’s paid staff. Our staff is carefully trained to provide the best possible care for your children and have had background checks.
Nursery The nursery is staffed from 9:30am until worship ends each Sunday in a beautiful, versatile Tas classroom located in Southside. When nursery care is provided for other church events, the nursery is open from the start until the conclusion of the event only.
Age Guidelines The nursery is designed for children ages 2 months to 4 years of age. When children turn 5, they begin attending Sunday School. Children under age 5 are lovingly cared for in the safe, nurturing environment of the nursery, but older children and siblings benefit much more from the age-appropriate Sunday School programs offered at Southside. In the event that older siblings are brought to the nursery, nursery staff will alert the parent/guardian or Director of Children and Youth to escort the older child to Sunday School class. Parents are certainly welcome to remain in the nursery to help your infant or toddler feel comfortable.
Dropping Off Your Child We request that you complete the registration form available in the nursery so that we have information about your child and family. When dropping off your little one, please sign your child in on the form that is displayed when you walk into the nursery. Please don’t slip away from your child. Lovingly reassure him or her that you will be back soon, then go. Some children are upset for a short time when you leave. If your child continues to be upset, you will be notified by one of the nursery staff. If you prefer, you are welcome to discreetly check on your child is doing during the service.
Health & Wellness in the Nursery If your child is sick, he or she will be more comfortable at home. If your child exhibits any of the following symptoms, please do not bring him or her to the nursery:
Fever, vomiting, or diarrhea within the last 24 hours
A rash not associated with diapering, heat, or allergies
Discharge from your child’s nose that is not clear in color
Snacks Snacks are served on Sunday mornings. We usually provide crackers and water. Please inform the nursery staff of any allergies and/or other food issues, including if you prefer that your child not have a snack.
Thank you so much for entrusting your precious children to our care. We appreciate each and every one of the amazing children and families! Please let us know if there are ways we can better serve your family.
