Join us as we prepare the Kiva for Christmas! Pizza, sub sandwiches and drinks will be available. You are invited to bring chips, salad, or a dessert. Scissors and staplers are always needed. We welcome young and old as we work together!
Join us at this contemplative service as we surround ourselves with candle light, music prayers, the Word of God, the communion of the saints, silence, and the ever abiding presence of God.
A Solstice Reading by Alyce Sadongei
On this the longest night The earth itself is tilting Away from the sun It is the shortest day or The longest night The earth makes no judgment Only turns with the natural order Made by the Creator of all life May we align ourselves With the turning of the earth Let us make our prayers In the perfect shadows For the plants that rest in the soil Awaiting the sun’s rays and the Moisture of the rain to coax them out Like the plants may we be nurtured By the loving presence of Light Growing, blooming and sustaining each other
Christmas Eve at Southside is a joyful occasion as we gather to sing carols, enjoy the music of the choir, listen to scripture readings, hear the Word proclaimed through our children’s Christmas pay, and light our Christmas Eve candles. You are invited to bring a plate of cookies for our fellowship time after the service in Nanwoj Ha:Ki.
